Spencer Raff

Spencer Raff has over 30 years legal experience spanning both in-house and private practice in the United States and Europe.

After completing law school, Spencer interned in Scotland and worked for American and British firms in London. After returning to the United States he litigated product liability, insurance defense and commercial transaction cases.

He left private practice to join Varian Medical Systems as Division Counsel and subsequently worked in senior legal positions for large and small technology companies such as Adobe, BEA Systems, Openwave, and Support.com. Spencer's in-house work has given him an appreciation for the speed and practical advice needed by senior management. At Pragmatica, Spencer uses his expertise to focus on technology, IP licensing, commercial contracts and intellectual property transactions.

Spencer earned an A.B. in Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley and his J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in California, Illinois, and Washington State.

Before going to law school Spencer worked for several years at a company involved in marine applications of hydraulic power doing mechanical drawing and design. A decade after law school, he represented one of the parties in the purchase of a Navy project that included some of his earlier drawings.

Greg Wrenn

Greg Wrenn is a veteran Silicon Valley general counsel. He has over 25 years of legal experience, including 20 years of in-house practice, ten of which was spent serving as General Counsel and Secretary for publicly traded companies in the software and Internet services areas.

After earning a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Washington in 1983, Greg worked with a startup developer in Seattle, and later as a product manager for Broderbund Software.

After four years working in the industry Greg returned to law school to earn his J.D. from U.C. Berkeley and then joined Perkins Coie in Seattle in 1990 serving in the Trade Regulation and Intellectual Property group. In 1995 he joined Adobe Systems as inhouse counsel and in 1999 Greg and his family moved to California where he joined Yahoo! and served as Deputy General Counsel, International.
Subsequently he served as General Counsel for three more NASDAQ- listed companies in Silicon Valley including Openwave Systems, Borland Software, and Support.com, before returning to Seattle and private practice in 2015. He is licensed to practice law in Washington State and California.

Karen Williams

Karen’s decades of experience, in senior roles in companies such as SAP and as a partner in a major Silicon Valley law firm, inform the practical, business oriented legal advice she provides to clients.

With a perspective influenced by her early years as an IP and commercial litigator, Karen’s focus has been on intellectual property and related commercial issues, including software, technology and content, open source, copyright clearance and registration, brand protection, and commercial agreements (including IP and licensing issues in M&A transactions).

As vice president of global trademarks, anti-piracy and copyright at software multinational SAP, she was recognized by World Trademark Review as one of the world's top 300 corporate trademark attorneys for 2017-2019.

Karen's interests include sharing knowledge through participation in professional organizations. She served as chair of the American Bar Association's Copyright Office Affairs Committee and of a subcommittee of the ABA’s Computer and New Technologies Committee, and has co-chaired or spoken at numerous continuing legal education programs. Karen has also been an advocate for women's leadership opportunities through her extensive work with the volunteer-run non-profit Leading Women in Technology, where she served terms as president, board co-chair, and as director of WILpower, LWT's year-long women's leadership development program.

Karen holds a B.A. in History from the University of California, Berkeley and a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She is admitted to practice in California.
